Ask Malcolm Redman what he’s known for in the vending industry, with 43 years and counting under his belt, and his answer is immediate – dancing. An avid Northern Soul and Motown fan, Malcolm is a regular on the Northern Soul dance circuit.
Malcolm or ‘Mal’ to those that know him used to organise golf days for the AVA and he is a prolific fundraiser for dementia, supporting the Nottingham charity, Bloomin Dementia.
An ex-soldier, Malcolm started in the vending industry in 1975 as a vending operator. He soon went into sales, where he found his natural calling as a sales manager for Autobar, regularly scooping the prizes that were awarded to top sales managers in the 70s and 80s.
He went on to work for other known names in the industry, notably Bunzl and Huhtamaki, before founding vending machine ingredients company, Eurogran International, exactly 25 years ago, where he took on the role of sales director.
Having become part of UK Vending Operations, the company was bought by Barry Callebaut seven years ago and Malcolm has continued with his love of chocolate and vending and is considered a friend to many of his business associates.
Responsible for introducing the popular ‘Kreemy Choc’, Le Royal Choco Green, to the UK market for Barry Callebaut Beverages, Malcolm has played a crucial part in the product’s ongoing sales success and has ensured that the tasty drink has become a fixture across many outlets around the UK.
Popular with his colleagues for his cheery nature, Malcolm is the ‘go to’ guy for information on anything to do with the products, the company’s wide customer base and the industry at large.
He’s seen it all, he’s done it all – and Barry Callebaut Beverages and the vending industry are richer and better for having him as part of their story.
